Missions

The mission of the church is to share the good news of Jesus with everyone, regardless of who they are, or where they live.

The church family at Northside seeks to share a percentage of its resources with others who are fulfilling this mission in other places.

Local Missions

We support a number of local missions, as seen listed below:

Care Net

Care Net is on a mission to bring practical help and hope in Jesus to women facing unplanned pregnancy decisions on the Peninsula. At their centers they offer a safe place for women to explore their options and receive accurate medical information. They exist to reach women and families facing unplanned pregnancy who are strongly considering abortion. We believe that when women receive practical help and hope through our services that they will make a life-affirming pregnancy decision.

Thrive

THRIVE Peninsula ministers to the physical, economic, educational, emotional and spiritual needs of our neighbors. Addressing both essential living needs (e.g., food, housing, utilities) and the unique crises affecting each person, this volunteer-driven coalition helps coordinate community resources for a tailored, integrated response.

Established Footsteps

Established Footsteps exists to come alongside people to cheer them on to love the Word of God and to establish their daily life steps in its Truth. Originally born as a women's ministry by founder Sharon Thomas, Established Footsteps has now grown to encompass ministry to both women and men, reaching into many places with the treasure of God's Word.

Lackey Free Clinic

Lackey Clinic is a faith-based, free and charitable healthcare center — providing a medical home full of quality healthcare services for uninsured adults on the Virginia Peninsula. Their mission is to provide skilled, compassionate healthcare and counseling to the medically disadvantaged in a manner that honors the name of Jesus Christ.

Five Loaves Food Pantry

Five Loaves Food Pantry is a volunteer-run ministry serving the hungry across the Virginia Peninsula, with over 85% of those served coming from Newport News. Operating out of LivingStone Monastery, the pantry distributes food five days a week—including a special evening distribution on Tuesdays.

Five Loaves has served thousands of families with fresh produce, pantry staples, and USDA TEFAP food. Northside supports Five Loaves by providing volunteers for food pickup, sorting, packing, and distribution.

New Church Evangelism

Waypoint Church Partners

Together Waypoint helps church leaders navigate the challenges of ministry by providing low-to-no cost services and support for an enormous variety of needs, including planting brand new churches around the Mid-Atlantic region to getting church leaders together to offering special training.

A portion of giving from Northside goes to Waypoint to fund these new church plants, off-set expenses that Waypoint incurs while working and assisting other church plants, and to their general operating expenses.
