How Will You Stay Connected This Summer?

One morning, I walked into the kitchen and found my nine-year-old sitting at the table, chatting away on FaceTime—with her Grammie in Kentucky. The next day? A WhatsApp call with her cousins in Zimbabwe. Before I’d even poured my coffee, they’d already been around the world.
That’s the world we live in. We can stay connected with the people we love, no matter where they are. It’s an incredible gift. But here’s the irony: in an age full of connection, it’s still easy to feel… disconnected.
We get groceries delivered, stream everything, and substitute real conversations with emojis. We scroll and swipe through life—but our souls crave something deeper.
And that’s not a new struggle.
In the first century, the Apostle Paul wrestled with the same tension: “How do I stay close when I can’t be there?” Whether he was planting a church in Corinth or stuck in a Roman prison, Paul found a way. He wrote letters. Thanks to the Roman road system, he could reach people he loved—even from a distance. His words encouraged, challenged, and reminded them they weren’t alone. And those same letters still connect with us today—we call them Scripture.
Here’s the takeaway: connection is a choice. Whether through a handwritten note, a phone call, or a podcast—you have tools to stay close. The only question is: will you use them?
This summer, many of us will travel—but let’s choose to stay connected. You can stream services, stay in touch with your group, and follow our summer series from anywhere.
And here’s something new—we’ve added a podcast for our Life of David series. You’ll still find us on YouTube and email, but if podcasts fit your rhythm, it’s a simple way to stay engaged no matter where your summer takes you.
So how will you stay connected? Call. Text. Watch. Listen. Don’t drift. Stay close.
See you this weekend—online or in person!
Grace & Peace,
Nathan Lawson
